TEXT MINGLE #1: CYBERCHARM đź’ž
One way or another, if you find yourself opening your aXess Link device, you may notice a curious pre-installed application. It's called CyberCharm! Otherworlders skeptical or curious alike, and feel compelled to investigate this program, will notice that the interface's AI has been hit with a glitch, causing users to discover a pre-generated dating profile has already been filled out for them. If any users wish to change or delete their profile, they must do so before anyone else responds, otherwise they could be saddled with an embarrassing pre-generated profile! Once responded to, users are locked out of changing it for the next month! So please make certain you are satisfied with your profile before it's too late!
NOTES
CyberCharm Profie:
Guidelines:
1. Please fill out the provided code below! You may write it in the IC style of your character, or as the CyberCharm app would have provided for them. You may modify the code to your heart's content!
2. The app's system is a little confused, and isn't quite sure what body count means. Could it be how many people you've slept with, or does it mean how many people you've killed? Feel free to respond to this however you see fit.
3. Respond to other profiles with the âś– / PASS! or đź’– / MATCH!
4. ???

“Euuugh.” Crowley grimaces, almost moves instinctively to clap a hand over Rhea’li’s mouth before he catches himself. “Suppose there’s no one here to haul me back to Hell for punishment because they caught wind of me being nice. Not like before. Really caught it that one time I stopped a girl topping herself. Ugh.” He twists his head uncomfortably, cracking his neck. “Not meant to be good people, or… tolerable to good people.” The idea of someone else wanting to protect him, other than maybe Aziraphale sometimes, is unfathomable, it would never occur to him that anyone might want to bother.

Rhea'li's tail flicks again, not startling at all when Crowley suddenly moves.

He rests his chin on his hands. "Do you wish to be good people, then?"
thindarkduke: (I mean)

[personal profile] thindarkduke 2024-04-26 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
"...Dunno. Never really thought I'd have the option. I mean, I don't... I've never wanted to... I saved Job's kids when they were supposed to get killed, and barely managed to get away with it. I've not been terribly successful at being bad people, I suppose is the point." Aziraphale was always so thrilled when Crowley did something good. He shoves back the memory of his smug face when he realized the goats were alive and continues the conversation. "Wouldn't really know where to begin. I mean, it's easy to just, avoid doing bad things one's been instructed to do, yeah, like, conceptually. But that's all... big things. Apocalypse. Murder. What's the opposite of gluing coins to the sidewalk?"

"Giving them to another?" Good is rather relative and complicated, is it not? But that level of nuance... small steps first, yes? "From here, it seems you instinctively already know what you need to 'do good' when things are dire."

He rubs his chin. He's never had to... try to explain in detail the step by step process of such a thing. He's very much lived by flying by the seat of his pants and just sort of fell into the whole hero business. And people largely seemed satisfied with his rather vaguely encouraging answers before.

"But for the small things..." He tilts his head and taps one of his ears. "Listen to people. What can I do to help with their current troubles?"

That's always been his guiding principle, even if his reasons for it changed over the years.

"When I inevitably leave, I hope that their lives are a little better after my passing than before."
thindarkduke: (ugh)

"Are there even coins here? I'm going to have to get a job if I want to have money for... to live on, ugh, let alone to run about-- philanthropizing with." He sighs and slumps further along the back of the bench.

"You're doing good deeds now, then. Listening to me talk. Not sure as anyone would really fancy spilling their troubles to me."

Rhea'li leans a hand on his chin.

"You sell yourself short. You're a most enjoyable conversationalist and I've quite enjoyed your company."

There isn't a hint of irony in his delivery; he means it through and through.

“Entertaining, yeah, that I can manage. Got practice at that. Doesn’t mean I have a trustworthy air about me. Nor should I, demon that I am. Personal connection’s never really been on the table.”
lightduties: (are they tangentially related?)

Should, again. He's met many people who have lived shackled to these hidden rules and duties. Some take pride in them, others are chained by them. Still, he tilts his head. It's so strange to think of a demon as being anxious but in his few interactions with Crowley, that's the impression he has.

"You don't have a trustworthy air about you? I hardly realised."

Though historically, Rhea'li has been a remarkably poor judge of character.

"What do you believe makes for a 'trustworthy air'?"

[personal profile] thindarkduke 2024-05-07 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Anxious, maybe. Self-esteem problem, definitely. Millennia rejected by your own creator for asking why, for caring too much about the things that you made.

"Er..." Good question. "Not being shady? Honesty? Earnestness? Dunno. Not really in my wheelhouse, is it, trustworthiness is more a Good thing than an Evil one. Not that most angels I've met are notably trustworthy. Sandalphon seems like someone legally barred from being near schools. And Gabriel has the trustworthy air of a used car salesman. Fucker." He's not going to stop bearing Gabriel a grudge for 'shut your stupid face and die already' now that the ex-archangel has gone and run off with the Lord of the Flies. If Gabriel had never gone running out of Heaven and down to Aziraphale's bookshop, if Gabriel hadn't vacated his post, Aziraphale would still be on Earth. And probably Crowley wouldn't have gone about driving into mysterious portals if he still had his best friend.

Rhea'li has no idea what makes a used car salesman particularly untrustworthy, but unbidden he's struck by the sudden thought of Handcock, the merchant who has ostensibly been rather helpful to he and his allies but nevertheless elicited a mild revulsion akin to having cold water dripped down your spine.

Hm. "Would you say your friend... Aziraphale? Is trustworthy?"
thindarkduke: (what no)

[personal profile] thindarkduke 2024-05-18 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Crowley makes a series of indecipherable grimaces. "He's more of a trustworthy air than I have?" And he is rather a rubbish liar. But he still does lie. In between being horribly, agonizingly earnest. Ugh. "He's virtuous." He says the word like it's a contagious disease.

Rhea'li arches an eyebrow at the reaction, doing his best not to laugh at Crowley's expression.

With a perfectly innocent air, he asks, "Since you know him so well, could you not imitate some of his mannerisms?"
thindarkduke: (really bro)

I don't have an icon that suits this one

[personal profile] thindarkduke 2024-05-21 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Weeeell, I mean, technically, yeah, fooled Heaven and everything one time. I'm not a prissy bookseller though, I don't really want to be, I mean, look at me," he gestures vaguely at his slim, slightly rumpled black suit, "I don't really... suit his..." He straightens on the bench, tucking his hands into his lap and aligning his spine, looking straight ahead at the pond. "I'm afraid I simply am not quite entirely suited to acting as my... acquaintance on a regular basis, on a basis of sheer personality, you understand." His affect has completely shifted to a degree that may be mildly uncanny.
