Musashi still isn't making sense, but Lucy's beginning to follow along, now -- she might be weird, but her story is consistent, and the emotions behind it sound real.

Unexpectedly, her words strike Lucy to the core. The little smile drops off her face, an unsure, uncertain sensation coiling in her gut, clashing wildly with something that dares to feel almost like hope and relief. She's had a few new beginnings in her life; starting in that junkyard in the desert, arriving in Night City, finding Maine's crew. Each time she reinvented herself. It's nothing new.

"A new beginning," she echoes wistfully.

Does she deserve it? Her slate will never be wiped clean, but maybe she can be allowed a fresh start. Here, in a city that doesn't know her name, a city with no Arasaka and no memories.

Lucy shakes herself from the despondent mood she'd dropped into, and scans the menu above the bar. The bar's packed, all kinds of people crowded around it. Lucy's almost jostling shoulders with a girl with brightly glowing red fangs, and a boy with delicate dragonfly wings, and a tall woman with green skin and ivy curled around her arms. "I'll have a Snake Bite," she decides. Hornitos blanco tequila, pomegranate, ginger, lime. Verve, too. Sounds like it'll pack a punch. "You? You strike me as a fruity cocktail kind of girl. Something with lots of decoration and fruit skewers." Lucy pauses thoughtfully. "Or just a straight sake girl. Can't decide."
