Her body felt heavy and then everything was bright and colorful and, as it so often did, her curiosity got the better of her. Her curiosity was always getting her in trouble. With a hug to Cheshette, her smiling tabby kitten, she stepped through. Or maybe she hadn't and she had been pulled through.
She wasn't sure.
Her eyes blinked open and she looked around and was greeted by everything being... so much more. Bright and colorful and everything being so different.
Alice inhaled, pinched herself and then, exhaled with a soft 'ow.' No... no no no no!
Alice waited, looking around and while everyone very kindly explained she needed to get on the train, she said no, you see, her family isn't here. Neither version of them. When she asked about Visium or Oxford, they merely assured her it was still there, but no, no the didn't understand! What did that mean? Did that mean she'd go back to Visium or to Oxford?! But no one was answering anything and she had millions of questions.
Eventually, she was ushered onto the train.
But... but she didn't really understand. What was going on? How did she end up here? Was this her fault like the contract had been? Alice made her way to a seat, soft 'excuse me,' and 'I beg your pardon' as she made her way through the crowd. No one looked familiar. Nothing looked familiar. She was alone... and she was scared. Where were her loved ones? Where were her friends? Was she still bound to the contract?
Or worse... was this part of it? She had wished for her adventure to continue. Was this... that? A new adventure, whether she liked it or not?
This didn't even feel like a train she knew or understood. Her mind was spinning and she was finding it hard to breathe.
Eventually, despite her best efforts, big tears welled up and then started spilling down her cheeks. She tried to wipe them away because what sort of impression would that make? She shouldn't cry. She had to figure this out, had to get herself sorted... all... all over again.
But eventually, the quiet tears turned into soft sobbing. The little silver tabby tried to purr and nuzzle her to make her feel better but Alice just hugged her closer.
B. Hello, High Rise Neighbor
This place was night and day from Visium. When they saw that she was so young... Something about a parental unit being brought in was mentioned but it went well over her head. She merely kept Cheshette hugged close to her chest as she was told to wait in the lobby and they would call her over when said parental unit was brought in.
After a good cry on the train, she was trying to take... everything in.
This... this... place was so massive. This was... so MODERN! She wished she had a way to memorize everything so she could draw it all later.
"We're going to live here now?" she whispered as she watched all the lights and colors and shiny metal and technology. For a Victorian child like her, everything felt... dream like, overwhelming. Alice was looking up at the ceiling and all the intricate patterns and lights, not paying attention as she stepped back... and right into someone. She jumped and turned around.
"Ah, I'm sorry I... didn't look where I was going," she offered softly. "Are... you my parental unit?" she asked a bit cautiously, having no clue what they meant by that.
C. The Bean and Berry
Alice stared at all the names and tilted her head.
"Goodness, it all sounds so interesting, whichever one to choose!" she idly wondered aloud, tilting her head this way and that to try and figure out which one to choose. She saw someone else there and offered them a small smile. "I beg your pardon, have you had any of these before? Might you have some recommendations?" though, she kept coming back to the hot chocolate. She did so love chocolate. Oh, but there was tea, as well. How could she resist either?
